Tean and WonbukThis is a featured page

I
If you are feeling even more adventurous you can try and make your way to the beautiful area of Tean. Although an hour and a half journey from Anjung, it's still a very worthwhile place to visit.
Tean is located on the West coast and the village of Wonbuk is a jumping off point to get to some of the nicest beaches in Korea, (Hakampo beach being one of the most beautiful places on this Peninsula.)
To get there from Anjung, take the main road left when you leave the GIFLE campus. When you get to the big Main road turn left again and make your way to the number 15 West Coast Expressway. This will take you South West until you see the exit for Seosan. Drive through Seosan and keep going until you get to Tean. From Tean follow the signs to Wonbuk and then on to Hakampo and the other beaches around that area. There is great camping opportunities here and if you venture into the wooded areas around the beaches you can come across old military lookouts and cabins.
Unfortunately, there was huge oil spill around the West coast in early December 2007. A lot of damage was done to the local wildlife and the general aesthetic of the beaches. Hopefully over time this will have cleared up, and the wild life will have made a strong come back! Perhaps the incident will warrant a change in the routes taken by the tankers on their way across the sea to China. Anyway, please enjoy the slideshow of images taken around the Tean and Wonbuk area.
