As wonderful as life is within the confines of amazing Anjung, there are opportunities for adventure outside the village limits. This page details some of those areas of interest.Tean and Wonbuk
Pyeongtaek Lake is actually a coastal inlet forming the innermost part of Pyeongtaek harbour. The scenery is nice with the huge expressway bridge seperating the harbour from the lake. The resort area consists of various seafood restuarants, a borad walk, an arts center and a drive in movie theatre. did I mention the Swan boats?
Heading in the opposite direction of the bridge there is a lovely boardwalk which curves its way along the waters edge. At the end of this nice walk you can find the giant wicker man standing guard over the lake. An ominous sght indeed!
Rumour around Anjung is, that every sixth Sunday of the year when the moonlight is just right, you can catch the wicker people performing their sacrificial ceremonies around the lake. just be careful not to be seen.seen.
Every few minutes this giant fountain erups on the lake. At night they light it up and it makes for a nice scene with the giant bridge in the background.
Behind the Wicker man you can find the Pyeongtaek Lake Arts Center. The center runs regular exhibitions and also doubles as a space for various arts and crafts lessons. They have a pottery workshop and a meditation center located on the roof which is surrounded by a glass pyramid. Very cool indeed! Outside the center there are some lovely decorative gardens adorned with interesting sculptures.
If you walk in the opposite direction of the Wicker man and keep going under thebiridge and across the main road you can get a lovely view of the harbour. The sunsets here are spectacular during the Autumn months.
The outerareaof the Lakeis largelyfarmed for shell fish and if you go into any of therestaraunts around the resort area you can get extremely fresh sea food. Often, however, you have to cook it aliveat your table!
